Oyster was approached by the local Conservation Officer from RSPB in Scotland to assist them with the delivery of a new Gateway Building for one of their reserves. Following agreement of the scope of the project to deliver a turnkey solution, including all infra structure, drainage, services and construction, Oyster started on site towards the end of last year. Ground works and services were completed on schedule and the construction of the building, including the internal fit out, was completed on schedule. Working along side RSPB’s Property Quantity Surveyor for Scotland and the North of England, Oyster delivered all elements of the project within the fixed contract price and on time.
Providing visitor information facilities, a warden’s office, kitchen and toilet facilities, the building was constructed using a highly insulated timber frame with Scottish larch cladding, locally manufactured oak windows and doors – it also incorporates a log burning stove for these cold winter days. The project is located within the Loch Lomand & The Trossachs National Park.
The building was opened for use by members of the RSPB and the public at Easter 2015.

When Iain and Ann Glennie were setting out to diversify their Hebridean croft’s income from the increasingly popular Glamping market, they looked at many different ‘camping pods’. After concluding their research, Iain and Ann commissioned Oyster Eco to design and manufacture two Cabins for their croft which is located on the exposed and rugged North West coast of the Isle of Lewis.
With the doors now open at Hebridean Huts , guests are raving on Trip Advisor about the Oyster Cabins. Each Hebridean Hut has a pair of yacht-style, single bunks, thermostatically controlled heating, a fully equipped en-suite shower and loo, Scottish larch cladding and cedar roof shingles, as well as ample storage for their guest’s luggage. Ian and Anne sourced fantastic local Harris tweed bed throws; wool from their flock of alpacas was used as the stuffing for the duvets and Wi-Fi all add to the luxury touches of the eco Cabins.
Each highly insulated, off-site manufactured Cabin is designed to comply with the Caravan and Mobile Homes act in terms of planning. The design is also totally flexible and can be tailored to suit your own site and operation – the Cabins can even be elevated on a raised deck for that added view!!!
“Had a great ‘glamping’ stay at Hebridean Huts. The huts are brand new and are extremely well fitted out, really cosy.” Malcom C, Dulnain Bridge – Trip Advisor
“The huts themselves are surprisingly well appointed! Honestly – there were more thoughtful touches and freebies in these huts than in any of the other accommodations on our trip (7 different places including B&Bs, luxury boutique hotel, Michelin star hotel, 4-star hotels, etc). …Oh and the bathroom exceeded all expectations; “ Pam L, Aberdeen – Trip Advisor
